Hamoud Boualem is a beverages company specializing in the production of carbonated soft drinks. Founded in Algiers in 1878 by Youssef Hammoud, it stands as the oldest continuously operating company in Algerian history and one of the oldest in the African continent.
Today, Hamoud Boualem is also exported and distributed in various countries in Europe and North America.
In 1878, Youssef Hammoud, a professional aroma distiller, established his presence in the outskirts of Belcourt and founded the "La Royale" lemonade, a precursor to the iconic "Hamoud la Blanche."
In 1889, "La Royale," crafted from carefully selected handpicked lemon essence, earned 20 gold medals at the Paris Universal Exposition. This prestigious recognition also coincided with the inauguration of the Eiffel Tower.
In 1907, "La Victoria," a brownish-hued beverage with delicate apple and caramel flavors, was introduced. Now renowned as SELECTO, this drink is deeply rooted in Algerian cultural heritage, embodying a flavor legacy transcending generations.
By 1920, Boualem Hammoud, Youssef's grandson, trademarked and renamed the company from "Hamoud & Fils" to "Hamoud Boualem et Cie." The company relocated to its current headquarters on Hassiba Ben Bouali Street.
In 1950, Hamoud Boualem broke new ground by launching a lemon-flavored drink under the "Slim" label, featuring the famous slogan "Slim, le citron qui prime." Today, the Slim brand offers a diverse range of five flavors, including lemon, orange, green apple, strawberry, pineapple, Bitter, and lychee.
1951: The Hamoud and Hafiz families join forces, and the company changes its status to become an LLC.
2003: Hamoud Boualem undertakes a significant modernization of its facilities, introducing the PET format in addition to its existing range in returnable glass. Simultaneously, the company records a growing presence in the export market.
The company celebrates the inauguration of its new factory in Boufarik, located in the wilaya of Blida. This strategic expansion aims to substantially increase production capacity, underlining its commitment to proactively meet a continually growing demand in the market.
This year is marked by the launch of the can format, bringing freshness and dynamism to the Hamoud Boualem brands.
Hamoud Boualem introduces Lim ON, its new range of carbonated fruit juice beverages, available in three flavors: Citrus, Pulp Orange, and Mojito.
The year 2020 sees the birth of Hamoud Cola, a new product expanding the Hamoud Boualem range. This brown beverage, deliciously infused with the authentic taste of cola, broadens the company's offerings and demonstrates its ability to cater to consumer preferences.
